Comic book writers Jenny Goldberg and Jhonan Vasquez, Meet Invader Zim and Johnny the Homicidal Maniac, gave an unfiltered look into the creative process of comic book writing and translating books to film. Harry Potter and Hunger Games were big topics. Fans advised that they loved the adaptations, but Vasquez commented that he’d prefer a film that stands on its own, without requiring prior knowledge of the story through the books.
The panel’s meandering discussion also touched on Jellyfist, Dark Harvest and how 9\11 made it more difficult to publish darker kid-oriented farer due to over-censorship.
