Marvel Teases New Wolverine, Hawkeye at C2E2

Marvel Comics treated fans to some inside scoop at its Cup O’ Joe panel Satuday afternoon at Chicago’s C2E2 comic book and pop culture convention. Marvel Chief Creative Officer Joe Quesada presided over a Q&A with Editor-in-Chief Axel Alonso, writers Dan Slott, writer Jason Aaron writer/Head of Marvel TV Jeph Loeb, Talent Relations Manager C.B. Cebulski and Director Of Communications, Publishing & Digital Media Arune Singh.

The team got in a quick plug for Marvel’s “ReEvolution” suite of digital products featuring Marvel titles reformatted for digital output (Marvel Infinite Comics)  and featuring Marvel’s AR app.  Quesada said that the Infinite Comics platform would be used to launch new characters.  The platform went live with the hotly-anticipated “Avengers vs. X-Men” #1 on April 4.

Loeb revealed that July will see the return of the  “Sabertooth Reborn” story in the pages of “Wolverine.”  Loeb promised to resolve all the story threads from Sabertooth’s death, the mysteries behind Romulus and feature guest stars including Cloak and Dagger.

Brian Michael Bendis and Michael Avon Oeming told the eager crowd that they will launch a new “Powers: FBI” series to help bring new readers in before the  FX TV series of the same title hits the airwaves.

The panel also indicated that “Hawkeye” will be the new series from Matt Fraction and David Aja.  Singh said “Hawkeye” will focus on Clint Barton’s life as the Avenger who’s a regular man with no superpowers but who deals with the craziness of the Marvel Universe. “If you’re a Matt Fraction fan who likes the crazy, off the wall swagger he gave Doctor Strange…you’re going to love this.”
