Web Therapy Finale: He’s A Top (video)

Lisa Kudrow gets big laughs in the season finale of Showtime’s “Web Therapy,” an improvised online and television series starring the former “Friends”star as Fiona Wallice, a therapist who has conceived of a new form of therapy: the titular “web therapy”. In this season’s finale, Fiona’s husband Kip, who has struggled with his lack of interest in his wife, has finally come out as LGBT, and announces it to the world during a political campaign concession speech. What’s worse, Kip’s coming out and professing his love for his political aid has been auto-tuned and set to music.

“Web Therapy” is a riotous dark comedy, and much of the humor revolves around Fiona’s obvious self-serving personal and business interest, which overwhelm her efforts to counsel her clients. (For instance, in “Sibling Ribaldry,” she manages to completely clarify a couple’s romantic emotional issues in thirty seconds but does so only to bring them around so she can then film them discussing more trivial sexual issues that are more shocking.)

Check out the Web Therapy 2.0 finale closing segment, a hilarious music video featuring Kip’s coming out during his concession speech.

The episode aired on Showtime September 9th, 2012.

“Web Therapy” has featured appearances by a number of prominent comedians and actors including Julia Louis-Dreyfus, Bob Balaban, Rashida Jones, Selma Blair, Tim Bagley, Dan Bucatinsky, Jane Lynch, Molly Shannon, Lily Tomlin, Rosie O’Donnell, Conan O’Brien, Natasha Bedingfield, Minnie Driver and Courteney Cox. Oscar winning actress Meryl Streep guest starred in three special episodes, as did Alan Cumming, Selma Blair, David Schwimmer and Victor Garber, among others.
