LONDON – Photos of a topless Kate Middleton, wife of the UK’s Prince William, have surface overnight in Closer, a French language magazine which captured the couple vacationing in Provence, France. Fortunately, the young royals look full of vim and vitality, which can only work to further enhance the royal brand. Still, the published photos have infuriated the Royal Family, which reportedly is now considering legal action against the rag.
Closer’s topless Kate Middleton photos show the royal removing her bikini top while hanging out with Prince William last week at a chateau owned by Lord Linley, the Queen’s nephew.
The Royal Family issued a formal statement shortly after Closer’s topless Kate Middleton photos went public. “Their royal highnesses have been hugely saddened to learn that a French publication and a photographer have invaded their privacy in such a grotesque and totally unjustifiable manner.” They continued, the incident is “reminiscent of the worst excesses of the press and paparazzi during the life of Diana, Princess of Wales” … who died in a car crash while fleeing from the paparazzi in France back in 1997.
“Their royal highnesses had every expectation of privacy in the remote house. It is unthinkable that anyone should take such photographs, let alone publish them.”
“Officials acting on behalf of their royal highnesses are consulting with lawyers to consider what options may be available to the Duke and Duchess.”
“The Duke and Duchess remain focused currently on their tour of Singapore, Malaysia, Solomon Islands and Tuvalu on behalf of the Queen.”
Kate (Catherine) Middleton, Duchess of Cambridge, has created a major impact upon British fashion which has been termed the “Kate Middleton effect”, and in 2012, she was selected as one of The 100 Most Influential People in the World by Time Magazine. Should her husband Prince William, the Duke of Cambridge and the second in line to the thrones of the 16 Commonwealth realms, eventually ascend UK’s throne, Kate Middleton would automatically become Queen Consort.
In other royal scandals, nude photos of Prince Harry surfaced last month during his vacation in Las Vegas where he engaged in a cheeky game of strip poker. And Prince Philip, the Duke of Edinburgh and the Queen’s husband, was captured earlier this month in a kilt malfunction, apparently sitting with his legs open while wearing a kilt, sans underwear, exposing his naked gun during an event in Scotland. Nude photos of the Duke were posted online almost immediately.
