NEW YORK — One might expect an emergency responder, like a policemen, paramedic or fireman, to take seriously his oath to serve and protect everyone regardless of race and gender. But some in New York’s Fire Department have taken the oath with a grain of salt, as is apparent in a slew of racist and sexist tweets that have come to light over the weekend.
Emergency medical technician (EMT) Joseph Cassano, the son of New York’s Fire Department Commissioner Salvatore Cassano, took to Twitter –@jcassano15 — on a number of occasions to share with the masses his degenerate thoughts about Blacks, Jews, the poor and women.
In November 2011, Cassano’s friend posted a photo of a Hasidic Jew near a basketball court where kids were playing and wrote: “This no good Hebrewwww crepin on the kidssssss,” to which Joseph replied, “I like jews about as much as hitler #toofar? NOPE.”
On Martin Luther King Jr. Day, Joseph Cassano tweeted, “MLK could go kick rocks for all I care, but thanks for the time and a half today.”
In August 2012, Joseph Cassano tweeted “News flash to half of the island, ur white! Stop talking like ur a shwoog.” Apparently shwoog, not to be confused with schwoog (apparently an English term for an ignorant person) refers to the n-word in Italian-American slang.
“I saw a sick jew walking on bloomingdale and thought of you,” Joseph Cassano tweeted in January 2012 to a friend.
“Getting sick of picking up all these obama lovers and taking them to the hospital because their medicare pays for an ambulance and not a cab,” Joseph Cassano tweeted Feb. 3.
“Gotta love people with the iPhone 5 and brand new Jordan’s whip out their benefits card #f–kobama #ipaidforyourstuff,” Joseph Cassano tweeted days earlier.
On women, Joseph Cassano tweeted in November: “I love boob jobs . . . I wish every girl in America were forced to get one once they turn 18.” He added, “I’ll vote in the presidential election when a candidates main purpose is to make breast enhancement surgery free to all who want it.”
Is this the sort of person the public should entrust with their lives in an emergency? Apparently, the FDNY thinks so since Joseph Cassano is on the fast track to become a fireman. more
Since Joseph Cassano’s tweets have come to light, he early Monday issued a public apology regretted “posting some comments that were offensive, especially since I enjoy my job and treat every patient with great care and respect.” His father, Salvatore Cassano, has remained silent on the matter, according to Huffington Post.
Should a person who idolizes Hitler and hates African-Americans be allowed to remain in public service? Is his apology enough? Could any apology ever be enough?

It’s so sad that these people who are suppose to help everyone thinks this way, and there’s probably millions of them. He just got caught because he foolishly posted in online, but if he didn’t post in online and still had his job, I am a woman and a minority and would be extremely afraid if he came to help me or my family. All those people who say that racism is dead, it’s sooo alive !
This guy should be fired immediately and his father investigated because the kid had to learn that weird racist slang somewhere from someone old…like his dad!
Wow! I wouldn’t want to live in New York with all those racist Dagos, Paddys, Chee Chees, Charlies and Shylocks ruling the roost. NY sounds like a nightmare for the average guy. Where are the WASPS when you need them?
