Slow Moving Michael Jackson at Staples Center Rehearsal, LA 2009

michael jackson rehearsing at staples center june 23 09 2AEG, promoter of Jackson’s planned London shows, released to CNN a short video of Jackson rehearsing “They Don’t Care About Us” on a stage in the Staples Center arena on June 23. The video shows a pitch perfect Jackson moving at a speed unusually slow for the performer.

With his autopsy incomplete, one can only speculate whether it was older age or the influence of drugs that slowed him down during the rehearsal. At any rate, it looks like Jackson was poised for a massively successful comeback before his shocking death, having updated his on-stage attire to reflect current hipster trends and after modernizing the arrangement of his well-written songs. His comeback would truly have been “Bad.”

In related news, CNN reports that the Staples Center will also be the site of Jackson’s memorial service. The service is scheduled for Tuesday at the 20,000-seat Los Angeles arena, according to a person briefed by a family representative. The memorial is set to begin Tuesday at 10 a.m. (1 p.m. ET).

CNN also reports that the DEA has joined the investigation into Jackson’s death. Agents are expected to look at the doctors involved with Jackson, their practices and their possible sources of medicine supply.
