Chris Brown apparently had a black out last February because he told CNN’s Larry King and People Magazine that he has no recollection of brutally beating his ex-girlfriend, R&B singer Rihanna, and claims he still loves her. “I never fell out of love with her,” Brown told People in his first public interviews on the subject. “That just wouldn’t go away.”
Brown explained to Larry King in an episode airing Wednesday that he is still in shock about his bad behavior, which left Rihanna unconscious and bloodied. “When I look at it now, it’s just like, wow, like, I can’t believe that that actually happened,” Brown told King.
Brown released a statement on Monday saying that the first excerpt of the interview, in which he says he doesn’t remember the incident, has been taken out of context. “You punched her a number of times; you threatened to beat the blank out of her,” King said. “[You] also said you were gonna kill her. You bit her on the ear and finger.”
Of course, as someone who spent a day or two after Cinco De Mayo one year trying to piece together how I got home and what I did while I partied, I can certainly understand Chris when he says he doesn’t remember anything. Perhaps Chris had an alcohol induced blackout, where he was unable to create memories during the act of attacking Rihanna. If this is true, he needs substance abuse counseling rather than hard labor.
