In “4 Chefs Compete,” the remaining chefs must prepare a “stunning vegetarian” dish for 80 people, 80 portions per item, within one hour. Dave continues to struggle with his injured hand, while Tennille tries to remain consistent. Naturally, the task proves difficult, as the contestants have never really dealt with that kind of volume before. And to make matters worse, the diners are a bunch of kids. Tennille knocks the challenge out of the ballpark with a simple eggplant dish the kids overwhelmingly liked.
As her reward, Tennille and Top Chef Ramsey head to Nobu to celebrate, while the other contestants remain behind to skulk about and talk smack behind her back. Dave, who rarely has anything positive to say about anyone, comments that Tennille “cooks food well suited for a child but she’s not good enough for the Araxi.” “She’s not going to like [Nobu] and they’re gonna make her feel uncomfortable,” he adds, eliciting laughter from Ariel. Fortunately for Tennille, she has a fabulous time, but her euphoria doesn’t last long.
The other chefs complete service with little trouble, but Tennille bombs at the fish station, overcooking or undercooking her meats. When the end comes for her, everyone knows it. But Tennille is a good sport. She leaves “Hell’s Kitchen” with her head, inspired by her experiences with Ramsey and set to one day become a top chef.
