Shakespearean actor/director Kenneth Branaugh breathes fresh air in Marvel’s latest superhero outing, Thor, the story of the Nordic god of thunder’s fall from grace and quest for redemption. Quality acting and a nicely scripted morality play drive this entertaining film. Its humor and subtle casting flourishes electrify what could otherwise have been a pulse-less attempt to pander to the sci-fi/fantasy community. Starring Chris Hemsworth as Thor, with Anthony Hopkins, Natalie Portman and Stellan Skarsgard adding weight, Thor is a good time for the whole family.
