“Torchwood: Miracle Day ends on solid footing, neatly tying up all loose ends and offering a teaser of more to come. The Blessing is explained and the ‘The Three Families’ intentions are exposed. The only problem is that the episode feels rushed. Because the series’ pacing is somewhat uneven, writers had much to pack into the final hour. As a result, the plot moves at lightening speed and keeps viewers on the edge of their seats.
Excellent acting and production values make “Torchwood: Miracle Day” a good addition to the “Torchwood” series overall. But since it was light on science fiction, with Starz describing the series as a “crime-drama, the Torchwood franchise is not at its best. If future episodes are as edgy, quirky and contained as much sci-fi as the original series, this Starz/BBC union will rock.
