“True Blood” goes full-throttle in its fourth season finale. In a move as shocking and controversial as the “death” of Lafayette” in the first season, a fan favorite is brutally murdered. But as with all deaths in Bon Temps, it’s never clear whether one killed will remain dead. In fact, several long-dead characters return in this Halloween-themed episode.
Equally entertaining is the anticipated return of characters seemingly forgotten: fallen vampire king Russell Edgington (Denis O’Hare)and Fellowship of the Sun’s Steve Newlin (Michael McMillin). Hell hath no fury like a vampire scorned!
Unfortunately, the fairies do not return in the finale. Rather, they are alluded to. But with Marnie’s battle with the vampires coming to an unexpected, dramatic and engaging conclusion, it is easy to give the awol fairies a pass.
And what about Terry Bellefleur? What’s the story with Marine Sgt. Patrick Devins'(Scott Foley)sudden arrival and the strange energy between the two? Gotta be more than post traumatic stress syndrome. This plot is certain to be a weird one.
Great acting by all, but Nelsan Ellis (Lafayette Reynolds) does an amazing job as a man possessed by a homicidal dead witch.
