Los Angeles Police are anxious to speak with a doctor who lived with Michael Jackson at the time of his death. It is believed that this doctor gave Jackson a shot of Demerol, a narcotic pain medicine used to treat moderate to severe pain, around 11:00 am yesterday, just three hours before Jackson went into cardiac arrest.
Los Angeles Police have impounded the mystery doctor’s car, which they found at Jackson’s residence yesterday. They have not been able to locate the doctor.
Update (12:35 pm): Dr. Conrad Robert Murray of Houston Texas has been located and is preparing to speak with authorities regarding his treatment of Michael Jackson and the circumstances surrounding Jackson’s death.
Update (12:38 pm): Paramedics report that someone had been performing CPR on Jackson prior to their arrival. Medics determined Jackson was dead and wanted to call the coroner to pick up the body, but his live-in physician demanded that they hold off on pronouncing him dead until after additional attempts to revive him were made at UCLA.
Update (1:01): The Los Angeles Coroner has just completed an autopsy on Michael Jackson. A statement will be issued within the hour.
Update (3:24 pm): The Los Angeles County Coroner is unable to issue a determination of the cause of death. Toxicology, pulmonary, and neurology test will take 4-6 additional weeks to complete. After that, the case may be closed with a final cause of death determination at that time. There was no indication of foul play on Jackson’s body. The autopsy took about three hours to complete. Had Jackson’s doctor been present to sign the death certificate, the Los Angeles County Coroner’s Office would not have been required to intervene and perform an autopsy. The autopsy procedure is a ‘rule out’ procedure where a review of all major bodily system functions occurs.
