Erin Andrews Peephole Videotape Rumors Redux

As we reported last week, ESPN reporter Erin Andrews is said to have had her privacy violated when she was allegedly videotaped through a peephole while undressing in her hotel room. We initially suggested that the existence of the tape was suspicious because we could not locate video online. We then tabled the issue, thinking we had put the rumor to rest. As it turns out, we now must revive this shameful story because, well, people are still searching for these alleged videotapes.

Now, the people searching for this tape should be warned that the only thing they are likely to find is a nasty computer virus or malware. Let me repeat, searching for this videotape will likely result in your computer being violated by hackers. We have reviewed scores of these sites and all of the ones we saw were shams erected to lure readers. In addition to not having the video, these sites are rudimentary with lots of ads and links, but no editorial content.

There are lots of web pages claiming to have links to the tape, and the best thing to do is ignore them. If you must scour the net for the tape, check out sites that you know and trust.
