Late night talk show host David Letterman, known for his odd, non-sequitur one-liners, warmed his audience up before his Monday evening chat with President Obama with an opening monologue full of political zingers:
“I haven’t seen [President Obama] since he invited me and Sarah Palin to the White House for a beer.”
“We were never able to get President Bush on the show… He was always too busy not working, so he couldn’t come through here.”
“Did you see President Bush at the football game? It was the Giants and the Cowboys there in Texas, and President Bush did the coin toss at the start of the game. Now here’s a bit of trivia. The coin they used to start the game down there in Texas was the same coin that the Supreme Court tossed that won Bush the election.”
