[Update] 10.22.2010 – In today’s court hearing regarding whether Lindsay Lohan should return to jail for violating probation, the judge in the criminal matter decided to let Lohan go free. She will have to stay in rehab until January 3, 2011, However.
Former Disney actor and “Machete” star Lindsay Lohan admitted on her Twitter feed last week that she tested positive for drugs. “Regrettably, I did in fact fail my most recent drug test and if I am asked, I am prepared to appear before judge Fox next week as a result,” she tweeted. “This was certainly a setback for me but I am taking responsibility for my actions and I’m prepared to face the consequences.”
Not surprising, a bench warrant was issued today for her arrest. Fortunately for Lohan, court officials have stated they will not take her into custody until after her scheduled hearing on Friday. She may avoid jail time altogether.
Superior Court Judge Fox will decide at that time whether Lohan violated her probation, whether she should do additional jail time or more time in rehabilitation. She had spent a few days in L.A. County jail earlier this summer after repeatedly violating the terms of her probation on drunk-driving charges. She was released from a rehabilitation center just recently.
Lohan is looking at 30 days in jail. Heiress Paris Hilton, on the other hand, who recently plead guilty to two misdemeanor cocaine possession charges and obstructing an arresting officer, will serve a year of probation and no jail time. Hilton must pay a $2000 fine, complete a drug abuse program and serve 200 hours of community service.
Other celebrities who have spent 30 days or more in the slammer include T.I, who was arrested for trying to buy several guns just hours before the 2007 BET Awards. He spent a year in jail. DMX also held court in the klink, serving 60 days for violating probation after an arrest for cocaine possession, criminal impersonation, criminal possession of a weapon, criminal mischief, menacing, and driving under the influence of drugs or alcohol while impersonating a federal agent and attempting to carjack a vehicle.
