Ticketholders for the Wednesday and Thursday “Colbert Report” tapings were turned away due to a stop in production, according to fans who had tickets for the rest of the week’s tapings.
Third Beat and Mediaite are reporting that audience members were informed late Tuesday night via email, “Due to unforeseen circumstances, we have cancelled our taping for the date of your ticket reservation, February 15, 2012.” And ColbertNation.com has been updated with a rerun scheduled for Thursday night’s episode.
The break comes during a crucial stretch for Stephen Colbert’s show, with the Republican primary season in full swing. Last month, Colbert took his political shtick to South Carolina before its primary, staging a mock campaign rally and urging fans to vote for former Republican presidential hopeful Herman Cain.
The comedian also has a super PAC – “Americans for a Better Tomorrow, Tomorrow” – that had raised more than $1 million by late January.
