NEW YORK — American pop singer Beyonce performed her song “I Was Here” in the UN’s General Assembly Hall Friday in honor of World Humanitarian Day, traditionally a day marked by high-level political conferences, cultural events and exhibitions dealing with human rights issues. On World Humanitarian Day, World Health Organization and other international bodies will celebrate the roles performed by humanitarian workers, and remember aid workers who have been killed or injured while performing their vital roles. World Humanitarian Day is Aug. 19.
Beyonce sang in front of hundreds, including Julia Stiles, R&B singer The-Dream and songwriter Diane Warren, who wrote the song, Associated Press reports.
