“A Knight’s Tale,” the 2001 romantic adventure comedy film starring Heath Ledger, Shannyn Sossamon is being adapted for television according to Deadline. The film, which grossed $117,487,473 with a budget of $41 million, follows the story of William Thatcher, a peasant masquerading as a knight, along with his companions in the world of medieval jousting. William poses as a knight and competes in tournaments, winning accolades and acquiring friendships with such historical figures as Edward, the Black Prince of Wales and Geoffrey Chaucer.
The pilot will incorporate rock music into the medieval setting, and will follow a peasant who goes from impersonating a knight to actually becoming one.
Syfy’s “Battlestar Galactica” creator Ronald D. Moore will produce the show through a deal with Sony Television. Although a pilot has been ordered, there are no guarantees that such a project would make it to series. Such a decision would likely be made in the spring.
