If it’s box office proceeds are any indication, sci-fi action-drama “District 9” continued to generate good buzz and satisfy fans this weekend, with estimated receipts totaling $37 million as of Sunday, according to Box Office Mojo.
The movie’s take was higher than industry tracking predicted due to it’s compelling storyline and the media buzz generated from that.
“District 9” ranks no. 11 for sci-fi alien invasion films, and no. 12 for best opening weekend in August.
