Heroes Borrows from LSD Trip: Ink Review

heroes s4 ink matt parkman In last week’s episode of “Heroes,” entitled “Ink,” Matt nearly loses his mind as Sylar’s disembodied self somehow haunts Matt’s consciousness. This is an interesting storyline, except that it doesn’t make a whole lot of sense. How can Sylar haunt Matt if Sylar inhabits Nathan’s body? Apparently, Sylar’s essence has the ability to inhabit two people at once.

Another odd storyline involves Samuel’s unique ability to tattoo Peter by touch. That’s right. Samuel touches Peter’s arm and a compass magically appears as etched art in Peter’s flesh several hours later. Of course, the usefulness of Samuel’s power will be revealed sometime before the season finale. But meanwhile, viewers must wonder why Peter didn’t absorb Samuel’s powers immediately upon touch, as he has in the past, so that he would be aware of what would happen to him later on.

There was one cool element in “Ink”: the deaf stringed instrument player. Emma can play an instrument and visualize the music as colors. Of course, many LSD takers and scientists would argue that everyone could see the color of music if they merely expand their consciousness. Still, this is an interesting non-heroic storyline that screams for deeper exploration.

Tonight’s episode, “Acceptance,” looks promising as far a tension and high drama goes. The Sylar in Nathan’s brain begins to recall things from his past? Question is…whose past is it, Sylar or Nathan’s? Here’s a preview:
