Nazis and Racism: The New GOP Norm (Video)

MSNBC political news show host Rachel Maddow shows how GOP candidates regularly fall back on bigotry and racism during campaign season to scare White people to the polls. Maddow shines a spotlight on Republican candidates including Sharron Angle (Nevada), Rich Iott (Ohio) and Art Robinson (Oregon), who, when not dressed in Nazi uniforms, are warning of a coming “Brown” menace that will make White Americans a minority in “their own country.”

Last year, conservative Fox News Channel entertainer, political commentator and wearer of Nazi-like uniforms Glenn Beck reached the cover of Time Magazine, in part, for being widely regarded as blatant a race-baiter. The divisive talk show host, thought to be a racist by many liberals because of his unique opinion that President Obama ‘hates white people,’ made Time Magazine’s cover primarily because he pushes anger and fear. Beck is ‘[a] gifted entrepreneur of angst in a white-hot market. A man with his ear uniquely tuned to the precise frequency at which anger, suspicion and the fear that no one’s listening all converge,” says David Von Drehle, writer for Time.
