chris matthewsMSNBC news and political commentator Chris Matthews gave advice to President Obama Thursday, saying, “If you scare the middle, [you will] lose the country.” Matthews, who hosts “Hardball,” believes that President Obama must behave more conservatively and ignore the left, as former President Bill Clinton did during his tenure in the White House, if he is going to become a two-term president. Matthews presumes that the country really is majority conservative. But with the media increasingly revealing its biased and clearly pro-corporate coverage, it is not readily clear what the majority thinks. Moreover, President Obama won election with a massive non-conservative vote of approval. Do you think President Obama should ignore the left and continue to court the center and right? Here’s a clip from Matthew’s September 29th show:
Before turning to television, Matthews worked as a staff aide for several Democratic members of Congress. However, he is alleged to have voted for George W. Bush in 2000. Moreover, he is criticized for leaning too far to the right on his show, phrasing questions and comments in favor of Republican guests on his show.
