Beck Itches for Far Right Plutocratic Junta

glenn beck2“I’m tired of being a sheep. I am tired of being a victim. I am tired of being pushed around,” Glenn Beck said in Thursday’s “Glenn Beck Show.” He continued: “Well, you know what? The gloves come off tomorrow. I will give you a plan. I will tell you exactly the place to go. The way you can save your republic.” These are the words the controversial Fox News Channel talk show host used yesterday to rally viewers to check out his 9-12 Project website and political action group.

The 9-12 project, according to its website, “is designed to bring us all back to the place we were on September 12, 2001.” The site says “[t]he day after America was attacked we were not obsessed with Red States, Blue States or political parties. We were united as Americans, standing together to protect the values and principles of the greatest nation ever created.”

Well, where we were the day after 9-11 is a state of shock that resulted in America nearly becoming a totalitarian police state. Totalitarianism is a political system where the state recognizes no limits to its authority and strives to regulate every aspect of public and private life wherever feasible. Slate outlines how the Bush Administration eroded civil liberties over the last 8 years with warrantless wiretaps, rendition, Gitmo, etc.

So apparently, Beck wants to return America to the Bush era. And he wants guys like Charliss E. McAffee, the Idaho 912 Project steering committee member who is said to have pulled a gun on a defenseless homeowner in what appears to have been an unprovoked assault, to lead the charge against ordinary citizens. Maybe he intends to use men like McAffee to go after government officials as well. Consider the proliferation of gun-toting health care reform protesters at recent town hall meetings. From where are they finding inspiration?

Beck prattles about the Obama Administration ushering in an era of oligarchy, a form of government in which power effectively rests with a small elite segment of society joined by either royal, wealth, intellectual, family, military or religious ties. But what really seems to be happening is that Beck may be attempting to instigate a new plutocracy, where America will be ruled by corporate wealth rather than by the people. Beck is, after all, on the way to obtaining a $18 million dollar payday this year, according to Business Insider, so he can’t possibly identify with the yeomen.

Do Beck and his right wing racist, hate group infected, militia courting 9-12 Project friends intend to stage a coup d’état? He says “tune in tomorrow” for details regarding his plan. Will he disappoint?

Here’s video of Beck corralling his 9-12 Project militia to action:

  1. Glenn Beck says the craziest stuff he can in order to get ratings because unfortunately that’s what gets viewers. I sincerely question if he actually believes the insane garbage he spews on a daily basis. Even if Glenn Beck says this stuff for entertainment purposes, isn’t what he is doing stirring up sentiments that could lead to violence? It’s almost like he is trying to start another civil war! The scariest part is that people are listening and agreeing with this rhetoric. Quite honestly, Glenn Beck frightens me more than Al-Qaeda ever did.
