Pete and Myka must investigate a flurry of unexplained suicides at a Florida prison. They’re trying to find a mineral artifact that causes hallucinations. Turns out, the entire prison is made of quartz, which acts as a conduit for bringing up old psychic baggage. There, the duo encounter a prisoner named John Hill (Joe Morton), whose book on self- reflection ultimately helps them crack the case.
Myka (Joanne Kelly) laments Sam’s death. She’s ordered records from the investigation into his death, but she’s afraid to read them. She fears she is responsible. Meanwhile, Pete (Eddie McClintock) is confronted by memories of his father’s death. His dad wants asks why Pete didn’t warn him about the premonition that his dad would die. Both agents gradually overcome their respective issues.
Artie (Saul Rubinek) and Claudia (Allison Scagliotti) bond back at the warehouse after a near minor-disaster, and it looks like Myka might eventually warm up to Pete’s ‘charms.’
Although we’re nine episodes into the series, Syfy Channel’s “Warehouse 13” still places the gadgets and special effects front and center when it could focus on more complex storytelling. Also, where the heck is Mrs. Frederic (CCH Pounder)? Given the show’s nods to science fiction cult series “The X-Files,” it only makes sense that Frederic would have a greater role in the show.
