OMG! What is this frankenstein-ish creation No Doubt peddles as a cover of a fantastic 80s song? “Stand and Deliver” is already a post punk / new wave song with a splash of pop-sensibility, with Adam Ant’s talk-singing and crooning bordering on a Las Vegas lounge performance. But Stefani drives the song off a cliff and into a ditch with her thin and life-less rendition. First it was “It’s My Life”, which, thankfully, required Stefani to sing in a lower register, thus eliminating the thin shrillness that presently haunts “Stand and Deliver”. Now this. How many times must the masses suffer such transgressions?
I don’t even know where to begin in commenting on Gossip Girl and it’s lame attempt at cashing in on the 80s revival. What was with that dialog? It’s like, totally lame. That’s all I can say because that it all Gossip Girl inspires…

Make your own comparison. Below is Adam and the Ants’ original “Stand and Deliver”. Notice the vim and vigor with which Adam and the Ants deliver.
