Supernatural Recap: Weekend at Bobbys (Review)

Poor Bobby (Jim Beaver) can’t catch a break. He’s been swindled out of his soul. He’s had to kill is wife-tuned demon before she could kill him. And now, he’s got to save his new neighbor and love interest from a bloodthirsty demon that preys on single white females.

Directed by Jensen Ackles, “Weekend at Bobby’s” expertly infuses a bit of humor into this horror genre series. Steven Williams guest stars as Rufus Turner, AKA Luther Vandross, who needs to bury a body in Bobby’s backyard. Dean (Jensen Ackles), AKA John Paul Jones, needs help solving a supernatural crisis that has proven elusive. And Crowley (Mark Sheppard), who manages to take Satan’s place as leader of the demons, is exposed as a medieval peasant.

In need of help himself, but afraid to ask, Bobby eventually snaps on everyone and calls them out. Realizing they’ve been neglecting their good friend, the team rallies to help Bobby regain his soul.

Tonight’s episode, ‘Live Free or Twi-Hard,” looks equally fun. Here’s what’s going down tonight on Supernatural:

After a group of young girls go missing, Sam (Jared Padalecki) and Dean realize that a group of vampires have taken up residence in the small town. After a fight with two of the blood-suckers, Dean is bitten and turns into a vampire. Samuel (guest star Mitch Pileggi) tells Dean he can change him back but he’d have to get the blood of the vampire who turned him. Dean infiltrates the nest and runs into the Alpha. Jan Eliasburg directed the episode written by Brett Matthews.
