Lady Gaga Meat Frock Reveals Nihilistic Despair

It is impossible to overlook Lady Gaga’s over-the-top fashion choices, clearly meant to grab headlines. But at the Video Music Awards last weekend, Gaga shocked the nation when she wore her dinner to the ceremony. Dressed in a meat frock, complete with fleshy shoes, bag and hat, all designed by Franc Fernandez and put together by her frequent stylist, Nicola Formichetti, Lady Gaga carried her carnivorous cravings from the kitchen to the stage.

Of course, animal-rights group PETA sprung at the chance to comment. “After time spent under the TV lights, it would smell like the rotting flesh that it is and likely be crawling in maggots,” the group told TMZ.com on Monday.

But the real story is Lady Gaga’s nihilistic message of despair, deliciously on display that night. By zealously promoting a product that places consumers at risk of bowl cancer, Alzheimer’s disease, osteoporosis, rheumatoid arthritis, high cholesterol, and breast cancer, just to name a few conditions, Gaga says, in essence, “give in to indulgence.”  She says there’s nothing better than iron-rich, zinc infused steak to take the edge off of life’s troubles, especially if you’re gay and in the military. Perhaps it’s better than hemp.

Well, Lady Gaga says her message was really one of resistance. She appeared on “The Ellen Degeneres Show” and said to the vegan hostess, “It is a devastation to me that I know my fans who are gay … feel like they have governmental oppression on them. That’s actually why I wore the meat tonight.”

One can’t fault Lady Gaga for wanting to send a strong message, but maybe a dress featuring the gay rainbow flag and machine guns would send a clearer one.
