Vampire Diaries’ “Crying Wolf” is one of the most exciting episodes of the season. Damon tries, unsuccessfully, to interrogate Elijah, who is hanging around Mystic Falls as some kind of historian. Damon confronts the “Original” at a tea party, as you do, and he gets his butt kicked pretty easily. It is refreshing seeing Damon on ‘all fours’ so to speak. The wolves then have a go at Damon in a kind of karmic payback. They torture Damon for the moonstone much in the way he tortured Mason.
Meanwhile, Stefan and Elena have a nice romantic weekend at the Gilbert family lake house, until homicidal wolves descend, wanting the moonstone and revenge for Mason’s death. The tension is pretty cool as Elena runs through the cabin trying to avoid her potential killer in a very “Halloween” styled set-up.
Back home, daddy dearest Johnathan Gilbert plants seeds of doubt in Jenna ‘s easily influenced mind, essentially compelling her to worry that Alaric is hiding something important from her. And Bonnie “goes rogue,” with the aid of Caroline and Jeremy, tricking Luka into coming home with her. Bonnie does a Vulcan mind meld thing and extracts key information from Luka about Elijah’s true plans for Elena. What Elijah has planned ain’t good.
Finally, Tyler decides to leave Mystic Falls. Smart dude. That town is crawling with vampires! But before he skips town, Tyler confesses to Matt that he has a crush on Caroline, but that Caroline prefers Matt. Matt’s like, “thanks for the tip bro.” And speaking of unrequited love, Jeremy and Bonnie finally admit their feelings and kiss!!! Go team BonnJer!
